Getting Settled

Finally, the day came last week when checked out of our hotel room and moved into our new home.

Our home was finally ready for us and we were certainly ready for our home!

My mom also flew in that morning to help watch our little one while we dealt with the movers.

Needless to say, it was a glorious day.

Here's a photo of my husband and little one carting out our things from the hotel.  Smiles - Smiles - Smiles!  We all had smiles!

It sure was a blessed day.

The moving truck in front of our new place.
Boxes everywhere!
Stopped to take a dinner break with my cousin

My yummy fresh coconut water drink!

All of us at an amazing Filipino restaurant.

Thank You

Although my son and I are still on vacation waiting for our home that will be ready in five days (YIPPEEE! *doing the happy dance*), my husband has been working full-time at his new job in the Army.

Yesterday dressed in his green military ACU's (Army Combat Uniform), he left bright and early for the airport to make a couple quick meetings in Oklahoma and Missouri.

Of course, I worry about his trips.

I'm just a worrier.

I'm still working on that.

Well, right before sitting down to eat lunch, I get this text from him:

Hey babe,
Just wanted to let you know.  It's been a great first trip.  Somebody bought my coffee and water. Then somebody paid an upgrade for me so that I could ride 1st class.  Thinking of you.  There are a lots of patriots out there.  I l u!

I turned into a blubbering mess after reading this!

My little boy kept saying "it's okay mommy, it's okay mommy".

He has such a kind heart.

I love him.

Praise God for blessing people so they could bless my husband.

It's so wonderful to know that there are such wonderful patriots out there who are appreciative of those who serve.

Serve to protect this nation so that we can live free.

Whether it's buying a Soldier a cup of coffee or even just verbally telling them "Thank you for your service", every little bit means so much.

Not only to the Soldier, but to their families as well.

Thank you!

Give Me Your Eyes

God sure has been working hard on me these past few months.

Many trials and tribulations testing my faith in Him and my identity as a Christian.

Words that keep ringing in my ears are those from Christian artist, Brandon Heath's, song called 'Give Me Your Eyes'.

Here are some of the lyrics:

Give me Your eyes for just one second
Give me Your eyes so I can see
Everything that I keep missing
Giving me Your love for humanity
Give me Your arms for the broken-hearted
The ones that are far beyond my reach
Give me Your heart for the ones forgotten
Give me Your eyes so I can see

I found myself praying these words today when faced with another trial.

Yup, another one.

And let me tell you...

It wasn't long until God answered me.

Of course, my flesh wasn't happy with the answer, but my spirit is now at peace.

Where's the Food?

Since we're in limbo living in a hotel room and waiting to move into our on-post home, I haven't posted many of my recent food creations.

Nothing too exciting going on in my mini hotel kitchen these days.

In fact, we eat out often.

We can't help it.

The food in Texas is just innnnn....credible!

Yummy - yummy - yummy - yummy!

Not good for our waistlines though.

Usually after a one week max vacation, I come back with an additional two to five pounds on my body.

Well, our vacation / move to Texas has lasted for nine weeks now.

If you do the math, I have a lot of pounds to peel off when we finally put an end to this vacation and move into our home.

Two more weeks to go and we'll be moving into our new place.

Until then, we're enjoying the fresh towels and linens every day, an amazing roof-top pool, morning breakfast buffets, and weekday beer & wine socials.

Here are some photos that my husband & I snapped while having dinner outside at the Republic of Texas Restaurant on San Antonio's Riverwalk.

We highly recommend this place.

Plus, sitting outside on the Riverwalk while the boats filled with tourists cruise by, ducks and birds hang out at your feet waiting for crumbs to drop from the table, and the sounds of mariachi bands perform at various nearby restaurants is pretty stinkin' awesome!

Dan deciding on dinner.  He had the Bison Burger cooked medium rare.  It was terrific!

Yup, my face is getting chubby.

Lots of fish and ducks in the river.

Allergies

Praise God --- our son recovered quickly from last week's allergic reaction scare.

Although we never found out the cause of his allergic episode, we do know that it wasn't food related.

Poor kid may have inherited my allergies.  (I'm allergic to EVERYTHING!)

Only time will tell.

Anyway, while he was on the road to recovery, he spent some quality time with his cousins.

He just adores them.

Warms my heart.

ER

Well....  unfortunately we now know where the Emergency Room is located in our new town.

Our little man had a terrible allergic reaction to something today.  Not sure of the culprit just yet but it was pretty scary.

His face was so swollen, his eyes were almost closed and his nose and lips were double their size.

Bless his little heart!

Despite the itching and swelling, he was such a great patient.

Here's a photo I snapped of him in the ER as the swelling was going down.
