Farmer's Markets

Farmer's Markets are one of my most favorite things in the world.

Last weekend, my husband & I, and toddler in tow, were blessed with the discovery of an amazing Farmer's Market along the banks of the San Antonio Riverwalk.  For those in San Antonio, it's located in "The Pearl", just a few blocks north of downtown in the Museum Reach area.

We loved the open air market filled with locally grown and freshly picked fruits & veggies, pastured poultry, free-range eggs, grass-fed bison, beef, lamb, and goats, and plants and herbs of all kinds.

There were also several booths with deliciously sweet smelling breads and pastries.  The aroma of these homemade beauties was amazing, but we didn't stop too long to give into the temptation.  Just a couple whiffs was enough to pack on about five more pounds of jiggly mess on my thighs.

Sorry, just a quick tangent.....too much information, I know.

Anyway, the local community was out sipping coffee while walking around and talking to our local farmers.  It was such a wonderful morning.

Our son particularly loved all of the dogs.  Their owners were either taking a break from their morning runs and walks on the Riverwalk or just hanging out and letting people love on them.

If your community has a Farmer's Market, I highly recommend a quick visit.  Here's a link to find one closest to you.  I promise, you won't be disappointed.

It's a wonderful way to support our local farmers, meet our neighbors, buy seasonal fresh produce and healthy meats, and enjoy the outdoors.

By the way, the photo above is just a sample of our purchase last weekend.  We're juicing most of it, but definitely snacking on those crunchy fresh carrots and yummy radishes.

I hope you have a great week!
